Harvesting of winter crops 2022 is well under way. The most important crops are wheat, canola and barley (in this order). Due to a lack of rainfall in September and October the expectations were low, but so far the yields are above the estimations. In general, yields are 300 to 400 kg per hectare better than initially estimated.
First harvest of canola see quite a variety in results with yields ranging from 1.700 to 2.500 kg per hectare. This year is a record harvest due to the enormous increase in seeded area. In barley harvest are between 4.000 and 5.000 in the west of Uruguay. Wheat varies between 3.000 and 3.500 kg per hectare with sometimes complications in quality of the grain.
