Uruguay faced a severe drought during last summer. It seems that El Niño will bring serious rainfall in the next couple of months. Weather forecasts show higher than average temperatures and rainfall in the period September, October and November 2023. In the last 24 hours we had 83 ml on several of the farms we manage throughout Uruguay. Annual rainfall is 1200 ml on average.
If this is symptomatic of what is waiting for us in spring, we can have moderately positive expectations for next summer crop. Good to have sufficient rainfall, but we also need time to seed and harvest with heavy machinery on the land.
