Starting this winter (June 2013) mandatory registration of soil management plans applies to all farms with more than 100 hectares seeded with wheat or barley. The objective is to avoid erosion and degradation of soils and to conserve natural resources. This will lead to more rotation with different crops and the inclusion of ´green bridges´. This means seeding grasses in order to increase the presence of organic materials in soils. The mandatory registration is new and so far management plans concerning 450.000 hectares have been reported.
