On Sunday November 30 2014 Tabaré Vazquez was elected president. Outgoing president José Mujica will pass on authority in an official ceremony on March 1st 2015. During the coming interim period a new government will be installed.
Tabaré Vazquez has already stated that he will maintain the investor-friendly economic policies that helped Uruguay to receive investor grade by all important rating agencies. A sign of this is that the former ministry of Finance, Danilo Astori and former ministry of Agriculture, Tabaré Aguerre will be reappointed in the new cabinet.
Tabaré Vazquez was president of Uruguay before during his first term from 2005 to 2010.
