Institute of Colonization

The Institute of Colonization plans to purchase 30.000 hectares of farmland in the coming two years. This is part of its Strategic Plan for 2010-2014. Financing of these purchases will come from different governmental resources, mainly fiscal. The purchased lands will be used for cattle breeding, fattening of dairy cows, cooperative projects and colonies on farmland near the borders with neighboring countries. All transactions of farmland over 500 hectares are being reviewed by the Institute and the Institute is entitled to take over the purchase respecting the conditions as agreed upon by private parties involved.
