China and Uruguay establish strategic partnership during state visit of President Tabaré Vazquez to China this week. China is willing to encourage more investment in Uruguay in infrastructure projects. The country is also looking forward to expanding cooperation in agriculture, clean energy, communications, mining, manufacturing and finance. The two countries pledged commitment to “pushing forward free trade partnership building¨. Uruguay aims at closing a FTA in 2018, which would be exactly 30 years after the first state visit of a Uruguayan president to China.
