Investments in farmland in Uruguay are taking on different shapes. Private equity funds are increasingly seeking access to local capital markets. Examples of these efforts are the proceedings of Union Agriculture Group on the local Stock Exchange in Montevideo. But also a trust named Fondo de Tierras Uruguay, seeking to raise US$ 100 M to acquire 25.000 hectares of farmland. Other initiatives are set up by the Institute of Colonization which plans a trust of US$ 100 M to buy land and the company Bosques del Uruguay which is considering a new placement of US$ 50 M.
